Every February at The Carnegie Theatre in Covington, the phrase “don’t play with your food” gets thrown out the window. In some cases figuratively!

Artists from all over the region collect food products and turn them into beautiful pieces of art. In addition, some of the best chefs from the region collaborate on new cuisine to be served at the event.

This is known lovingly as The Art of Food.

This February 9, the event will celebrate its 12th year of existence. It is one of the theatre’s leading fundraisers for the year.

In years past, food has been used to create dresses (yes, they used live mannequins to “display” the foodie dresses), sculpture, and even food on canvas. Some of the artists whose work were on exhibit were Pam Kravetz, Amy Swoboda, Tony Dotson, Karen Saunders, and Matt Witherspoon.

While looking at the artwork, chefs from Lisse, Walt’s Hitching Post, Sleepy Bee Café, Anchor OTR, and Frida 602 have served up tasty works of their own.

Tickets and the lineup of artists and chefs have yet to be announced for the event. But you can keep up on the latest information regarding the event here.

Have a happy holiday, gentlemen! And let’s make it a great 2018.
