Some say the world is going to end in 2012.

Granted, there were those who said the world was going to end in 2011, too. A few times. But it didn’t. Oh, sure, we saw all of the signs – the Japanese tsunami; worldwide political and financial unrest; and – the one that no one saw coming – the Bengals made it to the playoffs. Again.

As we begin a new year, for some, it’s hard to maintain a sense of optimism. I can certainly understand that. I mean, Jersey Shore is back for another season. How can anyone move forward knowing that?

But we must.

It’s a great time to start anew. By choice or not. Personally or professionally. Or both. Make this year count. Face it – we don’t know what the future holds. But we can certainly shape our own outcomes and accept our own responsibilities.

There certainly are signs that this is going to be a great year. Van Halen is touring again – with David Lee Roth. It’s an election year (always exciting, no matter what side you’re on). Acura is bringing back the NSX – in the new Avengers flick. And God used Tim Tebow to defeat the Steelers (in dramatic fashion, no less).

What’s more, you’re reading this month’s issue of Cincinnati Profile.

I’d say 2012 is going to be a great year. However – we might want to schedule something big for the night of December 20th. You know, just in case the Mayans were right.
