One beverage that has been in almost every gentleman’s wheelhouse has, is and forever will be BEER.  As a young guy, I used to be one of the many hombres who stuck to Bud Light or Miller Lite.  I even had a stint on Miller Genuine Draft for the longest time.  There’s nothing wrong with that (or any other big-box beer lovin’) but for those of you who haven’t ventured out into the vast and growing cosmos of craft beer, I suggest you get on that wagon pronto.

Years ago, I happened to stumble upon a beer called, Oberon, a wheat ale made by Bell’s Brewery in Michigan.  It not only sparked my love for all wheat beers, but also made me a huge fan of Bell’s.  Much to my delight, I recently received a Facebook invite to a Bell’s beer tasting here in Cincinnati!

On Thursday, February 24th, the Lackman (Gateway Quarter in Over the Rhine) will be having a Bell’s Brewery tasting from 5-10pm.  They’ll be tapping Deb’s Rye, Golden Rye and Quinannan Falls Special Reserve (all of which I have not had and look forward to sampling).  Also, Expedition Stout and the coveted HOPSLAM (Winter Seasonal … 10% Alcohol by Volume … AWESOME) will be on tap!

For more information about this event or (in my opinion) one of the best craft beer brewerys ever, visit www.lackmanbar.com and/or www.bellsbeer.com.  Although this post comes across as a shameless plug for both the bar and craft beers I hold dear, I see it more as presentation of an opportunity to try something new!  So whether you’re a craft beer ninja like Bryon Martin or just someone who’s looking to try something off the beaten path, I hope you’ll join the festivities.  Who knows?  You might even like it.
