Welcome to 2011!

While making New Year’s resolutions is nothing new, actually sticking to them is another story. This issue is dedicated to those looking to make a change – personally, professionally, and/or spiritually. Whether it’s taking better care of your mind and body, going back to school to follow a different career path, or just devoting more time to the things that matter most to you – I sincerely hope you’ll take something away from this month’s issue.

Here at Cincinnati Profile, we’ve made a few New Year’s resolutions of our own. First and foremost, we’re committed to establishing ourselves as the quintessential online lifestyle publication for professional men in Greater Cincinnati. We’re writing this publication with you in mind. That said, we resolve to bring you thoughtful, inspiring, and entertaining stories from people making a difference in the Cincinnati area.

In this issue, NFL linebacker Rocky Boiman shares his story of growth and rediscovery. 5chw4r7z puts down his stogie and works up a sweat, all in the name of physical fitness. Will Chambers profiles sportscaster Betsy Ross’ new book about women breaking down gender barriers in professional sports broadcasting. Monika Royal savors the flavors of local band The Chocolate Horse. Amy Scalia profiles a local salon that’s putting a little more “man” in “manscaping.” Amy also catches up with my former co-worker, Derek Beasley, to see which storms he’s chasing these days. Guest columnist Rodger Pille shows us that sometimes, your own two-year old son can be your harshest critic.

We resolve to bring you stories like these and much more in 2011. We also look forward to becoming active members of the local community – be sure to look for us at events all around Greater Cincinnati as the year rolls on!

Even if you don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, I encourage each of you to do something this year that challenges you; something that changes you; something you never thought you could do. That way, when we all look back on 2011, we can do so with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year. Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,

Pete Scalia
